Graduate/Trainee Planning Opportunities
37 hours per week
Situated in West Hertfordshire, the Borough of Dacorum is composed of the main towns of Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring, with large areas of Green Belt and Outstanding Natural Beauty, historic settlements and buildings.
Our benefits include generous holiday entitlement (plus opportunities to purchase up to five days annual leave), 18.5% employer contribution pension scheme, family friendly policies, support to study, reimbursement of professional subscriptions, personal development, new car salary sacrifice scheme, flexible working patterns, interest-free rail/bus ticket/cycle purchase loans, and working in our new office building.
We have great opportunities for individuals to take their first steps into a Planning Career, influencing the development of both town and rural areas throughout the Borough of Dacorum. If you are a Graduate with a planning degree/degree in a related subject, or have three A levels, we can offer challenging roles for positive people who can problem solve, and gain experience in all stages of the development process.
You will be preparing planning reports and statements to be presented at formal Planning Committees, plus be able to demonstrate professional, clear and polite communication skills to liaise with members of the public, councillors and other stakeholders, ensuring that complex matters can be explained and understood.
Ultimately, successful candidates will have responsibility for efficient management and processing of a caseload of planning applications, in accordance with performance targets and standards, and you will develop your skills with support and guidance from our experienced, senior members of the team.
You will be able to work towards eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute. You must also have a full driving licence that is valid in the UK and have access to a car.
