Vacancy Description

These are truly exciting times for planning at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council: Regulation 18 consultation has been undertaken on a Draft Local Plan which includes the provision of several strategic sites of several thousand houses, employment provision and the need for significant infrastructure delivery. This includes a standalone garden village, and the significant expansion of an existing town, both to be delivered on garden community principles.  

To support this work a new, relatively small, team is being created in Planning Services. This will have responsibility for leading various masterplanning processes, including engagement with the community and working with landowners, developers, neighbouring authorities and infrastructure providers on the Pre-Submission version of the Local Plan, and future planning applications. Commitment has already been secured from the landowners, developers and infrastructure providers to work together on a comprehensive basis.

We are looking for a candidate with the drive, positivity and skills to establish and motivate this team and drive the work forward, working with colleagues in the dynamic and high performing Development Management and Planning Policy departments. The post would be ideal for someone with experience of strategic sites and infrastructure provision, whether that be from a Development Manager, Planning Policy or site assembly perspective in either the public or private sectors, who is looking to make the next step in their career.
