Senior Major Applications Planner (Two days in office, two days from home)

My Kent based client is looking for a Senior or Principal Planner to handle a variety of major applications on a six month contract

The client is ideally looking for someone full time; three days in the office and two from home with an hourly rate of £40-£42/h. However, for an exceptionally well suited candidate, they will consider someone working around 30 hours per week over four days; two in the office, two from home, with a pay rate of up to £48/h. 

The caseload would be formed almost exclusively of majors, ranging for smaller cases of 20 units+, potentially up to developments of between 200 and 500 houses. There will also likely be some commercial and/or industrial applications.

The borough has both rural and urban cases and knowledge of Greenbelt issues is desired.

They would prefer applicants are MRTPI and this is likely given the nature of the role, but this may not be essential.

The council has a pool car which could be used for site visits, although having access to your own vehicle would be a benefit. Mileage is paid at 45p per mile.

The Council offices are accessible by train in under an hour from central London and there are also good road links.

They are hoping to appoint quite quickly, but understand that applicants will need to give notice to their current employers.
