Job Summary/Purpose

  • Reporting to the  Real Estate and Business Development Manager  to assist and report on the strategic management of business development and real estate projects within the UK.
  • To progress specific mineral estate projects and planning applications.
  • To ensure continued compliance with all applicable health, safety and environmental legislation and Imerys’ company policies and guidance in respect of the responsibilities of this role and position.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Secure and maintain land and mineral planning consents to enable long term and sustainable mining operations, including Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Assist in the strategic real estate management of landholdings by promoting sites for development, technical appraisals of sites, delivering planning consents for development.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of decommissioning and restoration activities of redundant and non operational sites ensuring compliance with Mineral Planning requirements and an effective interface with Real Estates Projects and targets.
  • Manage and monitor all Minerals and Waste Development Plans/ Frameworks throughout the UK.
  • Represent the Company on working groups, panels and liaison groups for both minerals and real estate projects.

Job Specifications

Education and Experience requirements

  • MRICS or RTPI Qualified - General Practice and/or Minerals faculties preferred.
  • Member of Institute of Quarrying.
  • Proven experience in a National Minerals and/or Estates Company, Minerals and/or Estates Consultancy or Government Organisation.
  • Proven track record of delivering major mineral planning, estates and development projects on time, within scope and budget.

Knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics

  • Excellent knowledge of the minerals industry and related Planning and Estates Functions.
  • Team player, but also competent and self motivated to work alone.
  • Good negotiating and presentation skills.
  • Ability to confidentially deal with external individuals, organisations and members of the public.
  • Professional and modern approach to Minerals, Planning and Estates management within a difficult environmental climate.
  • Good knowledge and utilisation of IT.
  • Full driving licence.
