Job Details

East Northamptonshire Council provides an excellent opportunity to develop your career. Based in our recently modernised offices at Thrapston, the District is set in an attractive environment with a diverse mix of market towns and rural villages providing a range of planning issues, whilst seeking to meet demands for future growth.

We are proactive in plan making and have a small, but busy, policy section which is also preparing a District Wide Local Plan to inform policy up to 2031.

The post holder will provide technical and administrative support within the Planning Policy Team and be responsible for maintaining and updating relevant monitoring systems, including the Council’s housing and employment land supply and maintaining the service area website.

The successful candidate will need to be organised and competent in the use of IT systems. Experience of working in a planning related environment would be advantageous. Ideally you will hold a relevant planning qualification or be prepared to work towards them.

We invest in our people, and try to ensure that they have the opportunity to gain good quality practical experience that is required throughout their professional planning career.

Benefits include:

  • Payment of professional fees
  • Excellent pension scheme
  • Flexible working hours
  • Free on-site parking

Changes are on the horizon across Northamptonshire in which the county and district councils will join to create unitary authorities covering populations of over 300,000 each. This transformation could open the doors to new and exciting career opportunities for all our employees. For further information please contact Richard Palmer (Planning Policy Manager 01832-742142)
