Job Details
I am currently working with a local authority in the Hertfordshire area who require a Senior Policy Planner to come in for an initial 3-month contract, though this is highly likely to be extended due to the nature of the work.
The successful planner would play a leading role in all planning policy matters including the preparation of Local Plans and Supplementary Planning Documents. You will be required to deal with a wide range of complex technical work to support the preparation of a new Local Plan as well as shaping and participating effectively in public consultation on emerging policy documents.
Main duties of the post are (but not limited to):
- Take a leading role in the preparation, monitoring and review of the Council's Local Plans and Supplementary Planning Documents as set out in the Local Development scheme and subsequent revisions and updates to that document.
- Project manage research projects to support the development and implementation of planning policy documents in liaison with other officers and any relevant outside organisations.
- Represent the Planning Strategy team at meetings and working parties within and outside the Council as required.
- Prepare responses to consultation drafts of National Planning documents, legislation and good practice guidance reporting to Committee as appropriate.
The successful planner here will need an appropriate professional qualification (equivalent to degree status. Membership (or eligibility for membership) of the RTPI is an essential requirement for the post, as is a driving license and access to a vehicle.
The rate for this post is between £36 and £40p/h, however there may be scope for an increase for an exceptional candidate. Please do get in touch for further detail on the position.
