This is an exciting opportunity for an Urban Designer to join our multi-disciplinary Design and Delivery Team in the Regeneration and Enterprise Division at Dudley Council.

You will play a key role in the delivery of the council’s ambitious and existing programme of regeneration projects which will bring about significant and positive change across the borough over the coming years.

You will therefore find yourself participating in a challenging and rewarding range of work by delivering high quality placemaking through the council’s major regeneration and housing programme, including the DY5 Enterprise Zone and the Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Metro Extension.

You will also influence the quality of development through the planning process, including the planning policies that make successful development possible.

The Urban Design team is well-respected through its reputation for delivering a consistently high-quality service and there will therefore be opportunities for personal development within this post.

You will have:

  • Previous experience of working in an urban design service.
  • Well-developed urban design skills and ability to take the lead in promoting high quality urban design, evidenced through a broad portfolio of work, demonstrating master planning, frameworks, development briefs, themed guidance and development control advice and evidence of successfully negotiated development outcomes.

Although part of the West Midlands urban conurbation, Dudley is located close to the countryside and it also has many high-quality green spaces and excellent visitor attractions.

The borough has a history that it is proud of, but it is also a place that is moving forward with its recently launched ‘Forging a Future for All’ which sets out ambitious plans for the regeneration of the borough making it a great place for people to live, work and visit.

This post also offers flexible and agile working as well as free car parking.
