As the Strategic Planning and Growth Manager, you will be responsible for leading the Strategic Planning and Growth team in producing and delivering a wider range of planning, transport and sustainability strategies and policies.

This is an exciting time for an experienced planning professional to lead Trafford’s contribution to the Great Manchester Spatial Framework, produce the Trafford Local Plan, manage the Council’s input into the proposed HS2 Airport Station and lead on sustainability policy issues such as climate change and clean air.

Trafford is home to the Trafford Park Industrial Estate, the INTU Trafford Centre, Manchester United Football Club and Lancashire County Cricket Club.

Applicants must have a degree or equivalent qualification plus a relevant professional qualification. As the Council’s strategic planning lead, you will also have significant experience in the strategic planning field with a successful track record in producing and implementing planning policies and strategies.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior planning professional looking to take the next step in their career, or move to a dynamic and fast-paced local authority. Excellent written and communication skills are essential as you will be interacting with businesses, the general public, partner agencies, other Council officers and elected members.

Trafford’s Strategic Planning and Growth team is part of the wider Strategic Growth Service which is based at the recently rebuilt Town Hall in Stretford, and you will report to the Head of Strategic Growth. A flexible hours and working policy is in place and some unsocial hours working is required on occasions.
