Harrow is embarking on an innovative regeneration programme that will transform the area. This is an exciting time of growth for Harrow, with significant investment from both the public and the private sectors coming forward to shape the borough. The Council has ambitious plans to develop the town centres, create high-quality places but also to protect the character of the more suburban areas and green belt, whilst delivering new homes, employment opportunities and community infrastructure to meet current needs. The Harrow Strategic Development Partnership is being established to regenerate a number of key Council owned sites within Harrow and Wealdstone including the provision of a new Civic Centre complex. Harrow has also recently secured £500,000 from the Mayor’s Homebuilding Capacity Fund to facilitate the construction of new council homes within the borough. There are a range of opportunities for future growth and development.

Harrow is a fantastic place to work, live and visit. It has numerous heritage assets, access to green spaces and countryside. It is in a prime location with excellent transport links into central London on the London underground and through national rail services, Euston is just 13 minutes away from Harrow and Wealdstone station. Our current offices are a short walk from this station and only a 15 minute walk or a short bus ride from Harrow on the Hill station. We have a department pool car available for site visits.

Harrow’s Planning Enforcement Team work very closely with the Development Management team taking ownership of alleged breaches to ensure that unacceptable development is addressed as appropriate. Planning Enforcement is a vital function within the planning service. We are recruiting a Planning Enforcement Officer to undertake a systematic and sustained approach to planning enforcement against unauthorised development. This includes following the necessary procedures, undertaking site visits where necessary, maintaining the required IT records, preparing appropriate letters and reports and serving the relevant Notices if necessary. To work with planning officers and legal where necessary to defend appeals against notices and to attend and give evidence in court in relation to prosecution proceedings.

We are looking for ambitious people who want to grow and develop their careers. We want to hear from people who can contribute positively to Harrow’s ethos and exciting programme of work. In return, we offer great support and training to get you settled into your role, fantastic benefits and we encourage flexible and smart working, with brand new IT facilities to be rolled out in the very near future.

To discuss the Planning Enforcement Officer role further, please call Gregg Wiggan, Enforcement Team Leader on 020 8736 6162.

Application closing date 27 October 2019.

Interviews will be held the commencing week 18th November 2019
