Senior / Principal + Associate / Planning Director | Flexible working | Southampton
An outstanding opportunity exists for Town Planning professionals with 3 or more years’ experience to join a central Southampton-based consultancy with a high-end client base and a meticulous reputation.
There are at least two positions on offer. One at Senior / Principal Planner level and the other at Associate or Planning Director level.
Typical developments include major housing schemes for volume housebuilders including new settlements, garden villages, schools and universities, significant new sports and leisure facilities, planning for new hotels and waterfront developments and much more. The have a strong offering in Urban Design and Masterplanning too, so candidates with skills in these areas will be viewed favourably, although these skills are not required.
At least 70% of their work comes from repeat clients and their reputation precedes them so they always have more than enough work, hence the need to expand the team with the addition of at least 2 qualified and experienced planners. You will be client-facing so must be confident in your ability to build solid and lasting relationships. Whilst developing new business is not a requirement of the role at Senior/Principal level, if it is something that interests you then there is every opportunity to do so and with new jobs regularly coming in over the phone, you will pick up new clients through reputation alone. Naturally, Associate/Director level candidates will be expected to come with a solid history of client relationship building and fee earning.
To be considered for a position with this company, you should:
- Be MRTPI qualified;
- Have at least 4 years PQE;
- Be ambitious and hungry to work on some of the best schemes in the south of England;
- Be a self-starter, able to pick up tasks and projects as required, working with a high degree of independence whilst also being a strong team player;
- Have gained good quality experience in the private or public sectors;
- Be full of enthusiasm and determination to work hard and further your career.
In return, this company can offer a friendly working environment in attractive, spacious offices in central Southampton. They work on a trust basis so some flexibility around working patterns and the ability to work from home at times is a genuine option.
They also offer a relaxed administrative environment where you can be self-sufficient and work the way you work best rather than being process driven and micro-managed.
The salary on offer is generous and commensurate with experience. Seniors / Principals can expect to earn a basic in the region of £30k - £45k, with Associates and Directors earning in excess of this, plus bonuses are paid annually to all staff typically at 10-15% of salary.
So, if you are full of energy and enthusiasm and are ready for a change then please get in touch for a confidential discussion about this exciting consultancy opportunity. My client is keen to interview candidates straight away and the initial meeting will be relaxed and informal.
