We are looking to recruit to a senior position within the Planning and Building Control Service operated by Capita on behalf of Breckland Council.

The post would report directly to the Director of Planning and Building Control but would have daily contact with Senior and Executive Managers within Breckland Council as well as individual service areas within the authority.

Breckland Council is a pro-active council seeking to ensure the delivery of major housing, employment and infrastruture projects within its administrative area. It is also a leading and active member of the A11 Cambridge to Norwich Technical Corridor Partnership seeking to encourage, facilitate and deliver development as part of this innovative partnership.

The postholder would be responsible for working with the Council to bring about the programming and delivery of major growth in Breckland’s principal growth points of Thetford, Attleborough and Snetterton. This would include the Attleborough Link Road, the Snetterton Heath General Employment Area, the Thetford Sustainable Urban Extension and the Thetford Enterprise Park together with the tandem delivery of major housing sites, associated infrastructure and wider strategic growth across the District.

The postholder would also be responsible for the development and implementation of funding strategies and initiatives, for working collaboratively with the Council and its delivery partners,  for maintaining strategic relationships with public and private developer partners and for developing strategies and initiatives that support delivery of the Councils’ priorities.

Breckland sits in the heart of Norfolk and covers an area of 1,305 kilometres and is one the largest rural districts in England. Nestling just on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. Breckland is centred around the five main market towns of Attleborough, Dereham, Swaffham, Thetford and Watton. There are also 112 parishes in Breckland but the majority of the population is centred round the five market towns.
