This is a key position within the Planning Applications Group of Kent County Council. We are a small team with an excellent record in determining planning applications and delivering high quality development. The post would be mainly working on minerals and waste applications with the opportunity to also work on major Community projects.

We are looking for an experienced Development Management planner who holds or is eligible for Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute. You will have experience gained from dealing with a range of complex major development proposals, ideally including minerals and/or waste sites and experience of Environmental Impact Assessment and EIA development and Appropriate Assessment Development.

We are looking for someone who enjoys the challenges that arise from dealing with complex applications. You will have excellent written, oral and presentation skills, including public speaking; strong analytical and site appraisal skills and ability to work constructively with others. Well-developed negotiation skills and interpersonal skills will be needed along with effective mentoring and coaching skills as the role includes some planning case work supervision.

The post is considered by KCC to be in a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.

If you feel that you are the Planner that we are looking for, we would welcome your application.
