Senior Planner

Our exclusive Planning consultancy partner has been providing comprehensive town planning and development consultancy services to a wide range of private and public sector clients, trusts, charities and other organisations for over 30 years. They are a small practice based in Warwickhire and act extensively across the Midlands, the Cotswolds and further afield. The current team comprises three Directors, two principal planners and three support staff.

They are now looking to appoint a Senior Planner, as a new post created to strengthen the existing team and to help carry the business forward. The successful candidate will be working on an independent and varied caseload under the supervision of the Directors, including work on site appraisals, planning applications and appeals and some development plan work, along with planning advice and guidance to clients.

They need someone who is a full member of the RTPI (2 years minimum work experience since gaining academic qualification), who has worked in the public or private sector, primarily in development management and enforcement matters. As well as good planning knowledge, s/he will need good professional and interpersonal skills, be self-motivated and conscientious, and be able to manage their time effectively. Candidates should have access to a private car on a daily basis and be prepared to travel.

The salary on offer is £35,000 - £37,000 depending on experience, plus a performance related bonus paid in November each year, which can vary but in previous years has typically been around 10 - 15% of gross salary.

22 working days leave plus bank holidays, with additional days added for certain long-service milestones.

Maximum 3% pension contributions. They can also offer childcare vouchers.

They pay RTPI membership fees and allocate a training budget for each planner.

37.5 hours per week (normal hours 0830 - 1700 with an hour for lunch). However they are willing to discuss a 30 hour week with a suitable candidate if required, and we can offer some flexibility on the standard working hours, subject to agreement. Occasional evening work is required (committee meetings, parish council meetings and so on).
