Based at Riverside, Lowesotft or East Suffolk House, Melton.

Could you help shape East Suffolk's future? If you are up for the challenge, come and join a forward-thinking, dynamic and friendly team.

East Suffolk Council has the largest population of any district council. It is an exciting place where you can make a real difference to people's lives, delivering vital services to a quarter of a million people. No other district in the country is able to offer you the quality of life, variety and breadth of planning opportunities and development in the country's largest and newest district planning authority.

The Planning Service is central to the future success of the new council, helping to shape and deliver the prosperity of the area, while keeping it a special and desirable place to live, work and visit. To support this ambition, the Planning Team has recently grown, and we now have a new opportunity for you to join us. In return, we can offer you significant opportunities to develop your career with an award-winning service.

The council is delivering nationally significant infrastructure projects in the energy sector and positively responding to the Government's growth agenda by allocating and planning for significant residential and employment development. With an

excellent track record in plan making, the council has recently adopted and advanced Local Plans, providing an up-to-date strategic policy context for delivery to 2036.

The work of the team ranges from supporting the regeneration of Lowestoft and the redevelopment of waterfront brownfield sites to master planning garden neighbourhoods, developing coastal adaptation solutions, enhancing and sustaining market towns and villages, promoting the Port of Felixstowe and supporting neighbourhood planning. Growth and change of this diversity and scale needs to be sensitively managed to ensure it is delivered with the best possible infrastructure in place and impacts fully mitigated.

Additionally, a significant proportion of the district sits within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, adjacent to the Broads National Park and along a stunning coastline of pristine beaches and beautiful estuaries.

Reporting directly to the Planning Policy and Delivery Manager, as a Principal Planner, you will lead on the preparation, monitoring and delivery of growth and regeneration through Local Plan documents, Supplementary Planning Documents and Master Planning / Development Briefs. You will also collaborate with other teams, organisations / councils and individuals, both internal and external to the council, on specific delivery and enhancement projects and, as appropriate, support communities in preparing Neighbourhood Plans.

You will be an enthusiastic and committed individual who can rise to the plan making and delivery challenges and lead, support and mentor staff to deliver an excellent service. You should possess a relevant qualification in town and country planning as well as Full Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development. We want you to stay with us for the long term, so we will give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation.

There is also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose built, brand new office accommodation, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.
Our offices are based in the coastal town of Lowestoft, a short distance to the historic university city of Norwich, and Melton, close to Ipswich and an hour's train journey to London.

*plus professional subscription and relocation package (subject to terms).
