Job Details

The post is for an initial 1 year period but there is scope for this to be extended.

Warrington is one of the most successful urban economies in the UK.  As a former New Town our population has increased by 130,000 over the last 40 years. We are now home to 8,000 businesses employing over 115,000 people. Our location at the heart of the northern powerhouse provides a unique opportunity for long term success.

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled planner to take a key role in the review of our Local Plan to support Warrington’s ambitious plans for growth. We have just completed consultation on our draft Local Plan prior to submitting the Plan for Examination.

As a Senior Planning Policy Officer you will be leading on the preparation of technical evidence base documents and will have an important role in defending key elements of the Local Plan at Examination in Public. The role will require you to liaise with developers, members of the public, statutory consultees and other key stakeholders as we respond to the issues raised during consultation and prepare for the Examination.  You will also be working with a range of wider Council services and external partners in planning for the delivery of major transport and community infrastructure.

We would welcome applications from both experienced planners and those looking to take the next step forward in their career.

For an informal discussion please contact Michael Bell, Planning Policy and Programmes Manager – tel. 01925 442795.
