We are currently working with a Local Authority in Somerset who are looking for a Conservation Officer for an initial three month contract.



The Council are looking for a Conservation Officer on a part time basis. Duties will include:
  • Be able to give expert Conservation advice to Development Management Officers in their consideration of planning applications and enforcement matters.
  • Provide expert advice to Planning Officers on all matters in respect of Conservation, Listed Buildings and Heritage Assets.
  • Have experience in providing written consultation responses, managing their own workload and initiate and respond to requests for discussions with applicants, agents, the general public and Councillors on planning applications.
  • Produce high quality reports and recommendations in line with planning policy and all relevant material considerations for both delegated and non-delegated applications and present items at Committee as requested.
  • Experience processing planning applications is desired but not essential.




The rates are to be negotiated at this point. The contract is initially three months but very likely to be extended should everything go well.



The council are looking for someone on a part time basis (around 30 hours) and can offer flexible home working for this role.
