Policy Officer

This Local Authority a unitary authority based in the heart of the town centre offering traditional seaside living that makes it a great place to live and work. This diverse and busy town has great public parks and leisure activities, competitive house pricing and excellent travel links and are looking to appoint a Policy Planning Officer to work towards their new local plan.

About the Job

As the new Policy Officer at the council you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects linked to delivering the councils new Local Plan. These projects will really help shape the future of the area and help deliver to the council's 2050 ambition.

These projects will include assisting with evidence preparation, planning policy formulation and responding to a wide range of consultations. This may also involve working with neighbouring authorities on several exciting projects in the wider area.

The Ideal Candidate and requirements

To be successful for this role you will need to have a degree in town or urban planning, geography or similar and have experience of contributing to planning policy and evidence-based documents. You must have knowledge of planning policy preparation and the associated legislation to be able to carry out the workload.

Ideally if you are eligible for membership of the RTPI this would be desirable as well as experience working on planning software such as IDOX or Uniform.

Salary Range and benefits

As the permanent Policy Officer at the council you will receive a salary paying up to £41,876 (including market supplement) and can enjoy a range of benefits including: flexible working over a full time 37 hour week, salary sacrifice scheme and excellent training and development opportunities.

You will also have access to a work laptop and free parking.
