Planner or Senior Planner | Land Promoter




Salary: £25,000 to £35,000


We are seeking a Planner and a Senior Level Planner. The successful candidates will need to have experience of working in the private sector and to be able to work on their own initiative.


They will be joining a busy team of planners providing a comprehensive range of planning consultancy services to landowners, developers, other private sector clients, institutions and the public sector. This includes advice on planning strategy; strategic land promotion; development plan submissions, including appearances at Examinations in Public; project coordination; site appraisals; stakeholder engagement; the preparation of planning applications and other related permissions; and dealing with planning appeals. Key to both roles is managing, with Partner supervision, major projects and delivering successful outcomes for clients.


The main duties of the role include:


  • Carrying out research on-site development potential.
  • Providing clients with planning advice in respect of residential, commercial, retail and mixed-use development.
  • Assisting professional teams through the planning process in respect of residential, commercial, retail and mixed-use development.
  • Preparing planning documents associated with major planning applications.
  • Preparing and submit appeal evidence in connection with written representations, informal hearings and public inquiries.
  • Presenting client cases at Planning Committee, Promoting sites through the development plan process.
  • Negotiating S106 Agreements and CIL contributions on behalf of clients.
  • Attending community and stakeholder consultations.
  • Keeping clients up to date and informed by telephone and email.


Applicants should have:


  • Good knowledge of Planning Legislation.
  • Experience in a range of development projects particularly in the residential, commercial, mixed-use and retail sectors.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills.
  • Market awareness.
  • A full and clean car licence and use of a car.


Applicants for the role of Planner will need to have membership or eligibility for full membership to the RTPI. For the Senior role, applicants should have full membership of the RTPI.
