We are looking for a Planner to join us at one of the largest planning authorities in the country, dealing with a range of planning applications within a diverse local authority area.  The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate they have the skills necessary to develop and learn quickly in a challenging and busy environment, dealing with schemes through the planning process and delivering timely, high quality outcomes.  

You will act as case officer engaging with prospective applicants and agents, ward members and members of the public in constructive pre-application discussions.  You will be responsible for processing a range of planning applications according to grade, experience and career progression to make recommendations to senior officers/Plans Panel for decision.   Your role will require you to keep elected members, MPs, and customers appropriately informed on planning matters and deliver a high level of customer care. You will also be required to liaise closely with colleagues in all areas of the Council, other authorities, public bodies and private organisations to deliver high quality services to Members, developers and the citizens of Leeds.  In doing so this role will present an exciting opportunity to develop your career, but will require you to keep abreast of changes in legislation, policy and procedures.

You will be expected to perform to consistently high standards to meet targets within a culture of proactive development management. It will be an advantage if you are able to drive.

This post at grade C3 is within a career grade range up to SO1,. The department has embraced flexible ‘New ways of Working’ and is located in a modern office environment within the City Centre.
