The Council is looking to recruit a Planning Technician to provide administrative support to its Planning Compliance service.
.Working in the Planning Compliance Team, you will provide dedicated support to a team of officers and aid in the investigation of alleged breaches of planning control. This will include the preparation of specific legal notices and the management of the detailed records system. In most cases you will be the first point of contact for the team.
Good ICT & communication skills are essential as you will use a number of systems and will need to communicate effectively to a range of audiences including managers, businesses, solicitors, planning agents and partners.
Its desirable that you have experience of the following systems - SAP, Academy, REASON, Experian, Flare and Uniform. It is also desirable that you have an understanding of Town Planning legislation.
The Development Compliance Team investigate alleged breaches of planning control across the City through the collection and collation of evidence together with the examination, processing and evaluation of complaints. The teams work load is interesting and varied, offering an opportunity for the right candidate to make a positive contribution to the development of Manchester.
The Council has a number of IT systems and secure email accounts that are part of the Government's Public Services Network (PSN). In 2014, the Cabinet Office introduced a minimum level of security screening for all staff that have access to any IT systems or gcsx email account which form part of the Public Services Network. This security screening is called the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). This check involves verification of identity; nationality and immigration status; employment history (past 3 years) and criminal record.
