Situated within the heart of the Cambridge-Peterborough Growth Area, Huntingdonshire is a beautiful district that boasts thriving market towns and many attractive villages, each with its own identity. We are a dynamic and progressive Local Authority.

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and energetic Development Management Officer to join our vibrant planning team. The role will involve dealing with an interesting and varied caseload of planning applications, including Householders, Prior Notifications, Advertisement Consents, Listed Building Consents, as well as small scale infill developments and other minor development proposals.

This post will be ideal for a motivated and keen planning graduate looking for that first job, or somebody who have worked as a development management case officer in a local authority planning department or similar regulatory environment, or at an equivalent level in a private practice.  You will be exposed to a culture of learning, sharing knowledge, and you will be surrounded by friendly and approachable planners and planning team leaders.

You need to have good fundamental and technical knowledge and understanding of relevant planning legislation. You will need to have excellent communication and negotiation skills as you will be working in a team environment, as well as dealing with other professionals. We are looking for someone with a positive can-do attitude. You will also need to demonstrate that you have good problem solving skills, can write comprehensive planning reports, as well as detailed letters in response to pre-application enquiries. The ideal candidate will also have good organisational skills so as to work to tight deadlines whilst keeping planning records up to date.
