Job Details

Croydon Council is an award winning Council. At this year’s RTPI Local Planning Awards we won the Award for Increased Housing delivery and a development in the Borough was awarded Planning Permission of the year.

As a result of the ambitions for the Borough we are looking to increase our permanent staff compliment to allow us to further enhance service delivery for our customers and to focus specifically on the realisation of sustainable growth, firmly embedded in high standards of design and the maximisation of social, economic and environmental benefits.

We have an up to date development plan and are focussed on scheme delivery, using a wide range of development management and negotiation techniques to ensure that development is truly sustainable and contributes positively to the growth agenda – with all sharing the opportunities of that growth.

You will work in a vibrant and busy Development Management Service and will have the opportunity to deal with a wide variety of planning applications, appeals and pre application enquiries. A successful candidate will have to be enthusiastic, motivated and demonstrate an understanding of planning policy and development management legislation, have good written and verbal communication skills and to be able to work to strict deadlines.

We would welcome applications from across our career grade from newly qualified planners to, those looking to expand on their experience. Due to a high number of major applications received across the Borough we are also keen to recruit staff with experience in dealing with major schemes.

These are very exciting times for Croydon and if you are interested in joining us we would be pleased to hear from you. We also promote professional membership of the RTPI and cover the associated costs.

Hours: 36 hours per week (full time)

Closing date: Tuesday 27th August, (11.59 pm)
