Would you like to be a part of The London Borough of Hounslow, whose diverse workforce are committed to making a positive difference for our residents and visitors by ensuring the quality of our services are maintained to a high standard?

The Council is embarking upon a major programme of change to modernise the way we work and reduce our carbon footprint. We moved to a new landmark building in 2019 located in Hounslow town centre, and our new technology enables staff to work remotely and flexibly to improve the service we provide to residents and to help our staff achieve a better work/life balance. About The Team

Hounslow planners are an award winning team that are currently working on two opportunity areas, two housing zones and a wealth of interesting planning applications including the relocation of Brentford Football Club, development of the Sky campus and TV studios and redevelopment of Brentford and Hounslow town centres.  We have high housing targets to achieve, new schools to place children in and need to create opportunities for employers who want to be in our well located borough. This must be balanced against green belts, listed buildings, conservation areas and River Thames frontage that need protecting. Pressure for new development is unrelenting.

About The Role

We need you to take the lead in major development projects, giving advice to developers looking to invest in the borough, and work with corporate partners to develop council’s own land. You will also assist the Area Manager in leading the area team.

You will be a highly motivated team player with excellent time management and communication skills. Ability to work to tight deadlines with electronic document management systems is essential.

The posts require candidates who have a vision for developing the built environment to achieve the council’s aspirations, who have the confidence and capability to engage with developers, carry a caseload of major applications, and the ability and experience to work with less supervision in delivering the service experience of major developments and S106 agreements is essential

Essential for the Role:

A RPTI recognised planning qualification and at least 5 years post qualification experience working in planning.

If you would like an informal conversation regarding the position please contact matthew.rees@hounslow.gov.uk or 020 8583 6623

Closing date: 25th August 2019.

Interviews will be held during week commencing: 26th August 2019.
