Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils have successfully embraced the challenges of modern government through taking a progressive partnership approach to offering services. We are proud of what we have achieved through our joint working and we are passionate about delivering excellent services to our customers every day and meeting the needs of our local communities.

Our staff survey results consistently tell us that our employees think this is a great place to work and that they are proud to work for the Councils. An Investor in People Assessor commented that, "staff are incredibly positive about their work for the Council, committed to its success and have a high level of satisfaction.”

We are looking to strengthen the joint Planning Policy and Economic Development team, based in Amersham, by appointing a Planning Policy Team Leader. You will join the team at a professionally exciting and challenging time, working on a new joint Local Plan and helping to prepare for the transition to a single unitary council for Buckinghamshire in April 2020. The Councils care passionately about protecting their environment (e.g. AONB, Green Belt, town and village character) whilst also planning positively to meet local development needs and delivering sustainable development.

The Planning Policy Team Leader will take the lead on project managing the new joint Local Plan. In this challenging and rewarding role, you will manage the production process of the Plan and play a prominent part in its public examination, expected to start in late 2019. We are looking for somebody with a planning degree and experience of plan preparation and examination. Experience of Objective software and project management would be an advantage though is not essential.

Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils offer a highly competitive total reward package that’s proven to attract, motivate and retain the best people. Benefits include: free parking; a flexitime scheme, generous holiday entitlements and a flexible working scheme.

As an equal opportunities employer the council can offer a range of flexible work options and all applications and part time requests will be considered.
