Stretching from Winchester to Eastbourne, the South Downs National Park contains over 1600km2 of some of England’s most iconic landscapes.  With a population of over two million living in or within 5kms of the park boundary the pressures on development to meet community needs and enhance visitor experiences whilst at the same time conserve this unique environment can be challenging.

The successful candidate will be a capable and enthusiastic planner with experience and knowledge across the broad planning spectrum.  You will need to be able to successfully manage a variety of different projects and strands of work but most importantly be a strong team player as this post will require matrix working across the whole organisation in order to deliver positive outcomes.

The South Downs National Park officially came into being on 31 March 2010. However, the idea of a National Park in the South Downs can be traced all the way back to 1929. In 2016 the National Park was granted International Dark Sky Reserve status, making it one of the best places in the country to view the night sky. Today, we are one of only 16 such Reserves in the world.
