Senior Planning Officer (Enforcement)

£25.2K-£29.6K pa with potential progression to £32.8K

North York Moors National Park has some of the most dramatic and unspoilt landscapes in the UK ranging from picturesque villages and moorland to remote dales and rugged coastline. The Park is unique and we need talented staff who are dedicated to helping us keep it that way.

Successful enforcement and monitoring is the key to maintaining the credibility of the planning process within the National Park. We aim to be proactive by checking that planning conditions are complied with, as well as reacting to complaints from the public about breaches of planning regulations.

You will help to deliver our Planning Enforcement Service as part of a team led by the Enforcement Team Leader in accordance with our Enforcement Charter and policies in order to ensure compliance with the planning decisions of the National Park Authority.

You will have a diplomatic, yet firm approach in dealing with the public to develop sensible and pragmatic solutions to often complex issues. To complement your skills as a team player, you should ideally have;

• Recent experience in Development Management;
• Knowledge of planning issues in rural areas;
• Excellent verbal communication skills in a range of situations; and
• Willingness to become a full member of RTPI.

Based at our Headquarters in Helmsley, you will be working as part of a fully committed and supportive team.
