Permanent contract

At NCC we’re responsible for all elements of minerals and waste planning, dealing with an average of 500 cases per year and monitoring the performance of over 200 mineral and waste facilities located across the county. We are also responsible for the council’s own development proposals.

As a Senior Planner you can expect to work in all areas of planning. You’ll provide advice to a range of internal and external stakeholders on planning matters relating to Norfolk County Council’s services and mineral and waste management. Leading on monitoring minerals and waste capacity and requirements across the county, you’ll provide the evidence necessary to inform future policies and strategies. You’ll manage a complex case load, including major applications and those subject to the Environmental Impact Assessment Directive and where necessary take enforcement action to ensure operations are compliant with planning controls.

You’ll prepare, consult on and defend at public examination the policies and strategies contained within the Norfolk Minerals and WasteLocal Plan. You’ll scrutinise county matters and county council applications required under the Town and Country Planning Acts and review, analyse and report on the Local Development Scheme and Statement of Community Involvement. You’ll collect and if necessary give evidence in court.

With a degree or post graduate qualification in Planning or an RTPI accredited course, you’ll be eligible for or in the process of full professional membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

You’ll bring experience of working in a professional town planning capacity, evidence of providing professional advice on complex planning matters and the ability to build good working relationships with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders.

In return we offer the opportunity to harness your skills in mineral and waste planning and work in a beautiful part of the country. We offer a competitive salary, a friendly and supportive team and an excellent relocation package too.
