Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils have successfully embraced the challenges of modern government through taking a progressive partnership approach to offering services. We are proud of what we have achieved through our joint working and we are passionate about delivering excellent services to our customers every day and meeting the needs of our local communities.

Our staff survey results consistently tell us that our employees think this is a great place to work and that they are proud to work for the Councils. An Investor in People (IiP) Assessor commented that, "staff are incredibly positive about their work for the Council, committed to its success and have a high level of satisfaction".

We are looking to appoint a Senior Planning Officer in our busy Development Management service, who will work as an integral part of a team to provide a highly effective, high quality and efficient development management service.

The post holder will deal with a range of requests for pre-application advice and formal planning applications relating to major, minor and other developments and thus will need to have strong analytical, advisory and influencing/negotiation skills, in order to secure good sustainable development. Whilst the post holder will not have any direct line reports he/she will support the Area Team Leader in relation to facilitating a team working environment, ensuring that staff work efficiently and effectively in dealing with the work allocated to them and the targets and objectives set for them, and providing formal and informal advice for more junior planners. The post-holder will also need to be able to rigorously defend the Councils’ decisions at appeal, including Informal Hearings. The post-holder will therefore need to be very focused and results orientated.

Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils offer a highly competitive total reward package that’s proven to attract, motivate and retain the best people. Benefits include: free parking; a flexitime scheme, generous holiday entitlements and a flexible working scheme.

As an equal opportunities employer the council can offer a range of flexible work options and all applications and part time requests will be considered.

All applications must be made by clicking on the ‘apply’ button and completing the application form. Please complete the form fully as there will not be an option for you to upload a CV.
