Job Details

The Isle of Wight is an inspiring place to live, work and visit – and the Council has an ambitious regeneration programme and growth agenda, supported by a review of its local plan.

The Council is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and solutions-focussed individual to be part of its Planning Policy team.

Moving itself to be pro-active in the delivery of housing and development, the Council has real ambition. It is working with JVs to bring forward sites; it has established a housing delivery company and is working on a Housing Action Plan to complement an emerging suite of Island-wide strategies - a Regeneration Strategy, a Housing Strategy and the Island Planning Strategy. These are truly exciting times to be shaping the future of the Isle of Wight.

We also offer a range of staff benefits, including a generous annual leave entitlement, an excellent pension scheme and flexible working, in addition you will be able to enjoy your leisure time within one of the most beautiful parts of the country.

In addition to our attractive remuneration package, relocation support of up to £8,000 (which is not liable for tax or national insurance deductions) may also be available to you if you would be moving to the Isle of Wight to take up this role. Alternatively, if you decide to commute to the Isle of Wight daily, you may get your travel costs reimbursed.

The Isle of Wight Council protects its employees from discrimination, we actively promote the diversity of our workforce and we provide flexible working options (where appropriate) to support the different needs of our employees.

The Isle of Wight Council is an equal opportunities employer and is proud to encourage applications from all cultures, backgrounds and abilities to better reflect the diversity within our local community. This council and its schools recruit according to the council’s Safer Recruitment policy and are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment.

In addition to the above, the Isle of Wight Council is a Disability Confident Employer. This means that providing an individual meets the basic essential requirements of the advertised role and have declared themselves as disabled, they will be offered an opportunity for an interview within the council.

In the interests of efficiency and economy, no further communication will be sent to you unless you reach the final shortlist. This means that if you do not hear from the recruiting manager within three weeks of the closing date, we regret that your application will not have been successful on this occasion.

Closing Date: 19/08/2019
