About the role

The Enforcement Officer contributes to the work of the Planning Enforcement Team by taking ownership of investigations into alleged breaches of development management; working closely with the planning officers in the Enforcement Team to make sure unacceptable development is addressed as appropriate.

You will proactively supporting the Team Leader in providing an efficient and effective planning enforcement service to all customers in a timely manner.

No two days in enforcement are the same and if you think the enforcement function is boring think again! The Council regards planning enforcement as a vital function and we have already invested heavily in the team. Would you like to study for a recognised qualification in planning enforcement?

This is a politically restricted role.

About the team

The Development Management Service aims to deliver high quality decisions in a timely fashion to ensure that the high quality environment of Mole Valley is protected and enhanced. These is little point in doing so if the decisions are not complied with or if the Council does not respond to complaints about unauthorised development.

Collaboration and sharing knowledge is key to our success and we encourage new team members to help us maintain our high performance while promoting new ideas, constantly looking for ways to improve our working practices. If you have thoughts on improvements for a different part of the service you will be encouraged to share them.

About you

  • You are educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English
  • You are an experienced investigator with a thorough understanding of criminal process, PACE and ideally an understanding of the development management regime
  • You are a positive and motivated professional who can interact sensitively while weighing up differing views
  • You are a team player, who can contribute innovative ideas and be committed to achieving high quality results
  • You can cope with a demanding case load with minimal supervision while keeping calm under pressure
  • You hold a current driving licence
