Job Details
Join an established, highly regarded consultancy as a Regional Planning Director and be responsible for the leadership and successful performance of your regional team and area, contributing to the Planning and Environment Division and the wider business.
Reporting to the Group Managing Director, you will work with the MD and other Regional Directors to set the framework to sustain and enhancing Planning as a leading national business with a reputation for professional services attractive to both clients and staff. You will lead the strategic direction, providing oversight to their regional teams to convert vision into plans and actions. You will be accountable for the activities which ensure that the planning business achieves its objectives and financial targets.
The role will be a key member of the Planning Leadership Team, composed of the Group MD, Regional Directors, Finance and Human Resource Management and who will influence the planning business at a national level.
The role
- Own, develop and deliver a strategic vision to ensure the profitable performance of the Region
- Set and achieve Regional revenue and cost budgets, investment proposals and business KPIs
- Own a portfolio and pipeline of fee-earning work and client relationships, leading by example and structuring the delivery of the wider portfolio and pipeline of fee-earning work across teams
- Lead and inspire team members to work coherently as a Regional team, leveraging expertise and resources from the wider planning business
- Lead and coordinate Regional business development and client relationship management, promoting Planning and wider business at every opportunity, undertaking initiatives to actively raise the company's profile
- Act as a role model for professional standards and behaviours within the business, seeking ways to work collaboratively with other business units in the best interest of the business
- Ensure individuals have and can meet appropriate objectives and career path/development opportunities
- Ensure conformance with commercial and operational governance processes, and minimise risk
About You
- A member of either the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
- At least 10 years' experience as a professional planner with a proven record of success within the built environment industry.
- You will have a deep understanding of planning, legislation and people management and be conversant with current principles and techniques.
- Ideally you will be experienced in financial and change management.
- You will have exemplary client relationship and service delivery skills and can demonstrate a high level of market and commercial awareness.
- As planning is a people business, you will have effective leadership skills with the ability to maximise opportunities for the growth of your team and their continuous improvement.
