Job Details
A Client of mine based in South-East England is looking for a Senior Highway Design Engineer and ready to interview immediately.
The role will see you design and deliver highway schemes from inception through to completion. These schemes range in size and from small junction improvements to multimillion pound all-encompassing schemes.
The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to;
Design
- To propose scheme options and prepare design from inception through to detailed design and subsequent implementation in accordance with current national and local design standards and policies whilst ensuring that considerations are placed upon health and safety, equalities and sustainability.
Project Management
- To established agreed solutions with interested parties, which meet engineering and environmental considerations.
- To establish achievable scheme programmes.
- To manage external consultants as well as project staff and ensure that targets and met.
Financial Control
- To prepare estimates, monitor and review project costs to ensure completion within the agreed budgets.
- Project costs include works, predicated maintenance costs and design and site supervision fees.
Scheme Implementation
- To prepare tender and assess contract documentation to ensure the construction of works on-site are to programme and within projected budget.
- To provide technical input and project management throughout the construction period.
- Agreeing final measures.
Communication
- To represent the team and all stakeholders at meetings, to assist and carry out consultations on scheme proposals and to advise members as necessary.
- To liaise with project client, project team, consultants and the general public.
- Prepare reports as required.
A bit about you;
- As the successful candidate you will be educated to HND or degree standard in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Hold a membership/qualification with the relevant body - i.e. CEng or IEng or to possess a track record of working on similar projects over a number of years.
- A qualification in Prince 2 or similar Project Management qualifications would stand you in good stead.
- You should be comfortable in carrying out engineering project with values exceeding £1m from initiation through to completion without constant support/guidance.
- Demonstrate an excellent level of technical expertise.
- Have good experience of contract documentation preparation.
- Be able to lead small project teams.
- Be able to accept responsibility for signification decision making processes.
- Train/mentor assistant engineers as required.
