Principal Strategic Applications Planner

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Principal Strategic Major Applications Planner at London's most prestigious Planning Authority.

As a Principal Strategic Applications Planner working in Central Government you will review large scale strategic planning applications across the capital that will include some of largest development schemes in Europe.

Notable projects will include large scale phased outline applications to residential led mixed use schemes, new station development, tall buildings, innovative estate regeneration schemes to the development of new Town Centres.

In addition you will address the capitals development priorities through the planning process in relation to the delivery of affordable Housing, scheme viability and new council housing whilst encouraging innovative new development.

This will involve undertaking complex negotiations with local authorities, leading developers, development corporations, architects and external consultants in conjunction with politicians, elected members and key stakeholder groups.

Key responsibilities include;

• Manage and process a caseload of large scale major and strategic applications consisting of residential led mixed use, tall buildings, community infrastructure, and commercial developments etc.
• Facilitate close liaison and negotiation with local authorities, major developers, architects and external consultants
• Negotiate complex S106 agreements in conjunction with discharging conditions and finalising reserved matters.
• Draft detailed delegated reports and present at committee
• Conduct member briefings, engage with regeneration teams and consult with local community groups

The successful Principal Strategic Applications Planner will have acquired practical experience as a Senior or Principal Planner in Development Management with proven track record processing large scale major applications in the public or private sector.

In addition you will have a natural enthusiasm for large scale major projects and a pro-development outlook where you will contribute to shaping future development of capitals built environment.

Applicants must have a degree in Town & Country Planning and excellent written and communication skills as well an aptitude for dealing with complex planning issues and applications.
