Lead the united borough of Brent

Ours is a borough like no other. A place where vibrant, contrasting cultures shine. Where there’s the chance to transform the landscape through leading-edge regeneration so communities can thrive. A borough that strives towards a vision of culture, empathy, and shared prosperity, by standing together as one. Here, diversity is seen as a strength – and we’ve placed it at the heart of our ambitious Borough Plan.

For ambitious planning professional, Brent is a fantastic place to be. We’re at the forefront of exciting, borough-wide regeneration that’s changing the face of a suburb for over 300,000 residents. We’re rejuvenating nine town centres, creating well-designed public spaces and working to meet rising housing needs. In fact, we’re committed to building 5,000 new homes over the next five years. As Head of Planning and Development Services, you’ll be at the heart of our efforts, managing the key services involved.  It’s a chance to join an award-winning team and tackle significant projects offering great exposure to negotiation and development. As well as being the lead officer on Planning and Licensing committees, you’ll be our advisor and ambassador, representing the Council at events and supporting inclusive growth strategies.

Educated to degree-level with an appropriate Planning-related qualification (e.g. RTPI), you’ll bring proven experience of managing planning and transport services. You’ve put strategies into action to achieve service improvement and built a track record of leading major change initiatives. With this background, you’ll have a wealth of relevant knowledge covering the issues facing local government and local government finance. It’s exactly the kind of expertise that stakeholders expect, giving you the gravitas to collaborate, lead and influence.

Ready to join a council that expects high standards of integrity and professionalism? If so, we’ll give you the chance to change an extraordinary piece of London for the better.
