Dover district is changing with exciting new developments in town centre and waterfront regeneration and a number of other regeneration initiatives across the District. We have also strengthening the local economy, working with investors and developers to make the district a more attractive place to live, work and play.
It’s an exciting time to be joining Dover District Council. The Council is fully committed to understanding the infrastructure requirements of the new Local Plan as the economic viability of development has become such an important consideration, both in terms of Plan-making and when determining planning applications. In order to fully understand these infrastructure requirements, the Council wishes to appoint an enthusiastic individual wishing to further their career to take the lead on preparing and keeping the Infrastructure Delivery Plan (IDP) up-to-date.
Working as the Principal Infrastructure Planner, this is a fantastic opportunity for you to use your expertise to identify a range of infrastructure issues that will need to developed into an a robust and defendable IDP that will be used to support the Council’s Local Plan. You will also take the lead on preparing supplementary planning documents as well as commissioning Consultants to undertake a whole Local Plan Viability Appraisal. This is a hand’s on role with the ability for the right candidate to take up the challenge from day one through to the eventual examination in public. You will be working in one of the most dynamic and inspirational planning environments in the south east and alongside a multi-disciplinary team encompassing planning policy, heritage, green infrastructure/ecology and S106 contributions.
