In addition the Council is investing in new ways of working through our Walsall Proud Programme which is leading to new ICT provision and working arrangements to ensure the services that the people and businesses of Walsall need are delivered as efficiently as possible by our busy and high performing teams. 

We are therefore seeking talented and enthusiastic planning professionals to join our Planning Policy and Development Management teams and help us continue our successes. You will have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the public, colleagues and members, and work effectively with stakeholders. Good written and interpersonal communication skills are essential, and these posts are covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty.

An opportunity has arisen via an internal secondment for a 2-year fixed term position in our Development Management Team, supporting the service to carry out its role as the Local Planning Authority and providing advice and guidance towards the determination of planning applications and related planning decisions. As a senior officer within the team you will provide expertise in major planning applications and help maintain high service standards and performance through your ability to manage a varied and complex caseload.

You will have a track of providing pre application advice, preparing detailed delegated and committee reports for applications, and preparing cases for planning appeals. You will possess excellent communication skills and be able to take flexible approach to work with the ability to work on own initiative to tight deadlines.
