A great Planning Officer opportunity for an experienced Town Planner to work flexibly from home on a variety of minor to complex medium planning applications. Whilst working on your diverse casework, this Planning Officer will have the chance to develop there planning career working on a range of small-scale major planning applications as part of a wider urban extension and regeneration project.

This Planning Officer role offers you the chance to work for a rapidly expanding Local Authority growing both economically and through a wide range of new developments including new schools, new commercial & retail units, residential and urban development schemes. You will be managing and processing a caseload of residential, mixed use, change of use and commercial planning applications often within greenbelt and rural areas.

In addition, the successful Planning Officer' duties include:
  • Pre-application advice and guidance to applicants and agents with the submission of planning applications
  • Attend site visits
  • Maintain electronic planning application files by scanning and indexing plans and correspondence
  • Representing the local authority at committee when required


The successful Planning Officer will ideally have 2-3 years practical experience as a Planning Officer or Senior Planner in a local authority working in a Development Management team with a proven track record processing a mixed caseload of minor to major planning applications.

You must have town planning specific or a related degree to be considered for this Planning Officer role.
