Job Details

Harborough District Council is located at the heart of the Country, with a wealth of historic assets including over 1270 listed buildings, 62 conservation areas and 6 registered Park and Gardens.  Against this backdrop the area has significant amount of growth to deliver.

We recognise the historic environment is a huge strength and asset for the area, which is highly valued by the local community and plays a key role in the tourism sector for the District. We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Officer to join our Strategic & Local Planning Team to review and produce character appraisals and management plans for the Council’s 62 conservation areas.  From time to time you may also need to work alongside the Council’s Conservation Officer in the Development Management Team.

You will be an experienced professional who is committed to the protection and enhancement of heritage assets and have experience of reviewing conservation areas or equivalent areas of special character.  You should be a member of the IHBC or eligible and willing to apply.

Good interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills are essential as is the ability to deliver high quality advice in a timely manner and efficiently manage your workload.  A good working knowledge of the relevant legislation, planning policy and guidance are required.
