An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the County Council's planning service as Principal Planning Officer. You will be involved in all aspects of the county planning function, dealing with complex planning applications, assisting with the preparation of the minerals and waste local plan, enforcement / monitoring and supporting the team manager to deliver a high quality, joined up service.     

The post holder will be given the chance to use their initiative and skills to form relationships with stakeholders and to find positive solutions to problems both in relation to the delivery of the planning service and the delivery of corporate priorities.                        
                
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant degree, diploma or equivalent RTPI recognised qualification

• Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute

• Recent experience in county planning matters of a complex nature, including development management and local plan preparation

• Experience of project management and writing / presenting complex reports

• Excellent communication and organisation skills

• Ability to use own initiative, prioritise own workload with attention to detail

• Trustworthy, discreet, tactful as well as an ability to remain calm under pressure

• Excellent planning knowledge, particularly relating to minerals and waste matters
