The director of economic development and planning will be charged with growing the local economy and helping deliver 44,000 new homes and 27,500 jobs to meet the needs of businesses, communities, town centres and the environment. In addition, they will also lead on the regeneration of the council’s East Wing site in Trowbridge, the Chippenham Station Hub, and the Maltings and Central Car Park in Salisbury, amongst a portfolio of capital schemes in excess of £100 million.

Senior planning expertise and experience will be a given (gained in the public or private sector), but candidates will also need excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to lead a large and busy service which oversees a complex range of projects and developments.
