Job Details

We are looking for a qualified Town Planner who is either chartered or working towards that to join our established neighbourhood planning team. In addition to working on the main Neighbourhood Planning support programme this role will offer you the opportunity to work directly with groups exploring neighbourhood development orders.

We need someone to help us review the Technical reports that we sub-contract to others. So attention to detail, a confident, professional and friendly manner and ability to communicate well in writing and in person are all important.

In this role, it is important to understand the issues that neighbourhood planning groups face and be driven by ensuring they get a good customer service from us whether they are contacting the advice service, or applying for grant or Technical Support packages. We are proud of meeting demanding contract timescales and the very high level of satisfaction reported by the groups we support. To help us achieve that we need someone with a can-do problem-solving attitude, who will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure we provide the best possible support for neighbourhood planning groups.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a passion for the role neighbourhood planning can play in helping communities to achieve the aspirations they have for their areas, such as more affordable housing, improved local environments and better infrastructure.

The role is also an opportunity to explore new initiatives that will help groups who have made neighbourhood plans to look at how plans, for housing and community facilities can be brought to fruition. In addition, this role will work with our consultancy team to provide demand-led advice and support directly to community groups where planning expertise is required

This is a full time position but we are would welcome applications from those who are interested in taking this role on a part-time basis or as part of a job share. Flexible working options are available. What we are most interested in is getting the right person in post.
