Would you like to focus on planning policy (eg. 5-year housing land supply, affordables, CIL etc.), project management, site and project feasibility including financials and negotiating with LPA’s, councillors and other key stakeholders?

Can you offer at least 3 years’ experience post planning qualification?

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Town Planning professional on behalf of our client – a regional housebuilder located close to the M25 / M23 junction. An established and successful house builder in the south of England, they focus on quality over quantity, building small / medium scale residential and mixed-use schemes from luxury detached residences through to quality city centre apartments and affordable family homes. They deliver superior quality developments and as such, expect high standards from their staff and in return you will be well rewarded.

 

It is essential that you have some commercial experience working on high-density housing developments in London and / or the south east. Your key task will be to manage the company’s sites in London and the southern home counties, particularly those close to the M25 commuter belt, so any experience working with these LPA’s is highly desirable.

 

Alongside managing the applications and, where relevant, appeals process, your responsibilities will also extend to site appraisals, feasibility studies, input into layout schemes alongside appointed architects, negotiating affordable housing, S106 and CIL contribution elements, calculating financial viability and keeping up to date knowledge of the 5 year housing land supplies for local authorities across your regional jurisdiction. In addition, there will be the opportunity to learn the land acquisition process, allowing you to become a land and planning specialist should this be of interest.

 

About you:

  • experienced Town Planner (min. 3 years);
  • MRTPI, or close;
  • London and/or south east England residential planning experience;
  • able to comfortably commute to Reigate, with a full driving licence and access to a car;
  • up to date policy knowledge and hands-on experience of applying those policies to real developments;
  • experience working on high density, brownfield or infill sites;
  • high professional standards and a pro-active approach.

 

In return for your hard work and professionalism you will receive a competitive basic salary plus car allowance, pension and bonuses. Remuneration is expected to sit around £40k - £50k DOE including a car allowance element, although the focus is on hiring the 'right' person so there may be a little flexibility.

 

This level of this position would be well suited to an ambitious planner with 3-8 years’ experience, although those with more experience are welcome to apply if happy to stay within the approximate salary range stated above. Ideally someone who currently works in London but lives to the south and is keen to ditch the daily train/tube commute!
