Opportunity to further develop your planning career

Are you an enthusiastic and self-motivated planning professional with at least 5 years of experience in development management and looking for your next challenge? These are senior roles in our busy development management service covering two districts. We operate in an area of high economic and housing activity which is also of great scenic value. The post holders will be responsible for processing of major applications and appeals, providing pre-application advice and drawing up planning performance agreements.  The successful applicants will play a key role in shaping the future of our area and work closely with our team of major and senior planning officers. The roles present an ideal opportunity for qualified planning officers looking to broaden their experience by leading on a range of more complex major application and strategic sites.

Why work with us?

This opportunity provides a great career development opportunity if you are new or just starting out in your planning career.

We offer 24 days annual leave per annum, rising to 29 days leave after five years continuous service. We also offer flexible working through our annualised hours scheme which offers a flexible approach to work.

We also offer a career average pension scheme including life insurance, free parking, the opportunity to purchase a bike through Cyclescheme and a salary sacrifice car lease scheme. We also give you two days per year to volunteer within the local community.

Our working culture

We benefit from receiving a wide variety of planning applications, which will provide you with the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience. We offer an environment where people matter and encourage new ideas from everyone.

You will be responsible for your own case load, supported by your line manager. You will need a driving licence and will be required to undertake regular site visits. You may also be required to attend evening meetings (with advanced notice).

Career opportunities

As a prerequisite for the role you will already hold a degree or postgraduate qualification accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), or hold an equivalent level of qualification, or previous relevant experience. We look forward to hearing from you.
