South Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of White Horse District Council have a shared planning service serving both district councils. We are a busy service receiving a wide range of planning applications. Both districts have vibrant towns, along with surrounding villages many of which are conservation areas, or within Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty or the Green Belt. Alongside this both district have recently experienced both residential and commercial growth with a number of Major planning applications dealt with by both councils.
With the variety of work within the Planning service, this role provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience and career progression with the opportunity to experience different areas of the service including, development management, enforcement, policy and appeals.
You will have responsibility over your own case load and need to be enthusiastic, dedicated and have a strong customer service ethos with the ability to prioritise effectively to meet target dates and deadlines.

You will be responsible for your own case load, supported by your line manager. You will need a driving licence and will be required to undertake regular site visits. You may also be required to attend evening meetings (with advanced notice).
As a prerequisite for the role you will already hold a degree or postgraduate qualification accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), or hold an equivalent level of qualification, or previous relevant experience. We look forward to hearing from you.
