This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced planner who is looking to progress their career in a high-profile role.

You will maintain a caseload that includes some the most high-profile projects in the North West.  Yours will be an outward-facing role, holding the relationship between the Council and developer, project managing the pre-application and planning application process, and liaising with elected Members.

You will act as the first point of contact for major development proposals, and you will supervise junior colleagues dealing with planning applications, ensuring that performance and the quality of decisions is maintained at a consistently high level.

About you:

You will be commercially minded and an effective and proven planner. You will be a self-starter, highly motivated and enthusiastic about development, with a passion to deliver an effective and responsive service. This role will play a key part in the delivery of the Deal for the Future and the growth of Wigan Borough.

You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability and confidence to build positive working relationships while providing advice and guidance on highly complex technical matters to residents, colleagues, businesses and elected members.
