In this key role you will provide professional advice, guidance, interpretation and evaluation on all aspects of the work area to service users and colleagues. Taking the lead on the research and delivery of specific policy and projects, you will act as the departmental expert to inform the preparation of an up-to-date Development Plan and associated documents. You will also project manage and supervise team members and consultants to provide input to projects and take responsibility for project delivery.

Educated to degree standard, or equivalent, with professional Membership of the RTPI, you must have considerable knowledge and experience of preparing spatial planning documents for this senior role. In depth knowledge of planning legislation and the government guidance is also essential.

An excellent communicator, both orally and in writing, you will have the ability to represent the Council in a wide range of forums from regional agencies to local bodies, together with the ability to supervise and support officers within the team.
