If so, then we should talk. We’re currently working on an exciting opportunity for a Planning Director to join one of the largest Planning teams in the UK, overseeing their presence in the North of England.

 

The Planning Director will be responsible for the leadership and successful performance of their regional area, overseeing offices in the North West, North East, Yorkshire, Scotland and Northern Ireland. You will lead, manage and guide these regional teams and provide strategic leadership and direction, to ensure that the national planning business achieves its aims and financial targets. Also, the Planning Director, will contribute to the overall national planning strategy and the success of the firm.

 

The Planning Director will report into the Group Managing Director (Planning & Environment) and will be an active member of the department’s Leadership Team. The Leadership team will provide; strategic direction, consider investment options, governance and oversight and operational support and guidance to each of the three regional teams.

 

The key elements of the Planning Director role are to:

  • Develop and deliver a strategic vision for the North to ensure profitable performance and delivery of key business KPI's
  • Set, manage and deliver the 19/20 financial targets growth targets for North Region Team, taking full budgetary, forecasting and investment accountability
  • Active leadership and management of the team focused combined with business development, client relationship management, client delivery and fee earning are essential
  • Build strong, long term relationships with customers across the region and nationally
  • Set a steady pace for growth and development of the business in the North, leveraging the South and London Regions as appropriate
  • Be the role model for the standards and behaviours within the business, particularly working pro-actively and collaboratively with other businesses in the best overall interest of WYG;
  • Ensure consistently high levels of project delivery are achieved;
  • Ensure delivery of financial and non-financial targets with each office in the North
  • Getting the north office to work more as one team rather than individual offices and leveraging the national planning business as appropriate.
  • Lead, motivate and inspire the team;
  • Ensure individuals meet their annual objectives and are supported throughout
  • Develop and nurture the current and next generation of Planners, so we have a clear succession planning approach

 

The successful candidate will have previous Budgetary, P&L experience, including line management and be a strong team player. The Planning Director will be an experienced planner with a proven record of success within the industry. You will also possess an understanding of planning, financial management, change management and people management, principles and techniques.
