Being the driest county to live in the UK, North Norfolk offers a truly unique work/life balance all year round. North Norfolk is a hidden gem which includes beautiful countryside, attractive historic market towns and villages, 45miles of stunning coastline (including an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and 6 blue flag beaches. With below average house prices and a flexible working pattern makes living in North Norfolk hard to beat!

Senior Planning Officer (Major Applications)

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our forward-thinking and dynamic planning department here at North Norfolk District Council. We are an ambitious authority looking to deliver growth, provide innovative and high-quality developments.

The Major Projects Team helps to deliver significant housing, leisure and economic growth proposals across the district.  We also support the agriculture and tourism industry and work on some of the largest renewable energy projects in the country.

At the same time we have a responsibility to preserve North Norfolk’s internationally-recognised beauty, valued landscapes and heritage assets, working closely with colleagues in our specialist Conservation, Design, Landscape and Ecology Team.

We will also work with planning policy colleagues to provide input to development briefs, masterplans and policies for future site allocations.  You will also have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing process and business systems improvement. This is a challenging but equally rewarding role where your experience, and above all enthusiasm, will prove invaluable in helping deliver North Norfolk’s future growth aspirations.

We will provide support for training and your professional development and help you achieve professional membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute if you are not already a member.

This is a real opportunity for candidates who are committed to delivering high quality developments and providing a customer focussed service, who enjoy working within an integrated and multi-disciplinary planning and building control service.
