Enforcement Officer

Introduction

Our client based in the Lancashire area are looking for a Planning Enforcement Officer to join a busy Planning Enforcement team on a 4 month initial contract basis responding to complaints of alleged breaches of planning control by gathering evidence through site visits, interviews, and other means of investigation and preparing reports on recommended action.

Some previous experience working within local authority planning Enforcement teams is required.

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

Respond to complaints of alleged breaches of planning control by gathering evidence through site visits, interviews, and other means of investigation; to prepare reports on recommended action; and to take such action as is necessary to achieve a satisfactory outcome, having regard to planning law, regulations and policies and representations received.

Monitor developments for compliance with planning permissions; and to take such action as is necessary to achieve a satisfactory outcome.

Consult and liaise with other council officers, councillors, members of the public and other agencies / organisations, to gather required information to make recommendations for action on cases.

To prepare and present evidence at court, and appeals, including public inquiries or informal hearings as necessary.

To advise other council officers, councillors and members of the public with regard to enforcement matters (whether by personal approach, letter, phone or other electronic etc. means) and to ensure that such persons are kept informed of progress with cases.

To undertake such other duties as may be required by the Development Manager or the Head of Planning Services, appropriate to the grade.

Qualifications / Experience:

• Significant Experience working within Local Authority Enforcement teams
• Computer skills with experience of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and CAD software
• Sound written and numeracy communication skills able to converse with developers and the public.

Working conditions / environment:

• Communicating feedback to the general public.
• Must be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle to conduct site visits

Working hours:

• 37 hours a week
• Monday to Friday

Pay rates:

• £30 - £35 p/h via own Umbrella Provider or PAYE (the rate is dependent on candidate experience)
• Weekly pay
