Associate Planning Consultant - Town Planning Economics

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for for an experienced Town Planning consultant (Senior / Associate level ) to join one of the UK's largest and most diverse multidisciplinary consultancies, in their planning economics team.



About the team

Based in the London office, the successful candidate will be engaged as a professional practitioner and based within a busy Economics team (part of a wider planning offer) and would be working and leading on a wide variety of planning related projects.

As a market leader in housing market and employment land advice, developing evidence that underpins the planning and development process, key sectors include:
* employment land reviews, economic needs assessments and industrial land development;
* housing market assessment, housing needs overall and for specific groups;
* economic and social impact assessments often relating to EIA; and
* regeneration and development.



Recent and current commissions include: employment land strategy work for two London Boroughs; housing needs assessments; employment land assessments for the City of Oxford; housing delivery studies for Central Bedfordshire; economic impact studies for HS2 and Luton Airport; property value uplift associated with East West Rail in Bedfordshire and Housing Infrastructure Fund business cases; and socio-economic impact assessments supporting estate renewal programmes around London.



About the role



As part of this role you will contribute to the following (not an exhaustive list)
  • Project managing and delivering commissions across a range of planning and economic projects, working with a director as required.
  • Responsible for management and specific outputs in a varied caseload including data gathering and analysis, presentations of findings (internal and external), site appraisals, policy review, recommendations and report writing.
  • Provision of support to senior staff and assistance with developing strategy advice on a range of projects.
  • Managing and mentoring junior staff as applicable.
  • Maintaining and developing technical knowledge and securing a thorough working knowledge/awareness of aspects of economics and strategic planning policy and practice.
  • Attend external events and identify business opportunities.




Requirements

Relevant experience within the private sector would be highly desirable, although consideration will be given to those from a Local Authority background who can demonstrate a thorough strategic planning background.

Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline (town planning, property, economics, geography etc) as well as knowledge of the English Planning system is essential and it would be highly desirable to be chartered with the RTPI or a similar body.


Equally as important is someone with the relevant drive and a a positive "can-do" mentality, a hard-working, productive and generally effective and trusted individual.
